Ngorongoro NP Sightings

The power of the crater is the wide variety of animals that can be found on a relatively small surface. You’ll not find them all there, because, for instance, for giraffes the rocks at the edges of the crater are too big a barrier. On the other hand, you will surely meet zebras, buffalos and gnus. The soil of the crater mainly consists of grassy plains, which makes the spotting of these animals relatively easy. The main hunters in the territory are lions, cheetahs, hyenas and leopards. The animals are very used to cars, which makes it possible to get very close to them. This is how we saw cheetahs and hyenas from a distance of no more than 2m; spectacular !

Thoughts about Ngorongoro

In fact, the park is part of the Serengeti Lowlands. Obviously, the summit of Ngorongoro is the homonymous crater With its surface of approximately 265km2, the crater only takes up little space of the entire park (more than 8000km2) and is absolutely fenomenous.

Although the animals below in the crater cannot be seen from the top, the view from the edge of the crater impressed us deeply, so imagine how impressive it was to do a 600m descent into the crater itself.
