South Luangwa NP Sightings
The majority of the game live close to Luangwa river. One of the most impressive species that we have seen in South Luangwa is the Thornicroft’s Giraffe. This sub-specie only lives in Luangwa Valley, of which nearly a thousand dwell in South Luangwa. This absolutely wonderful giraffe distinguishes from its congeners by lacking the marking under its knees.
Furthermore we were deeply impressed by the large number of leopards in South Luangwa. During each and every game drive in this park, we have seen leopards. During one of these, we even spotted 3 leopards within two hours! One of them was falling out with a hyena, the second one was hunting whilst the third had just caught an impala. Sensational! We can nothing but conclude that South Luangwa is a “must” for all safari lovers.
