The park has got numerous biotopes, ensuring a wide variety of game. Besides the biggest and oldest elephants of South Africa, the big five are present too, as well as various species of antelopes and a wide variety of birds. In the northeast part of the park, a hide can be found, from where a fairly big watering place can be watched. Between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm a stream of elephants comes and goes.

Thoughts about Tembe GR

Tembe was established in 1983 to protect elephants from Mozambique. These elephants were traumatised by poaching during the civil war in this country.
